I spent the whole second half of 2015 on researching how to make a tool for making paramatric and animatic pogoda in Cineam 4D. This can be seen as the evolution of my first pagoda generator--Pagoda Maker™. I gave a name to Lugoda, a combination of two words: LU and Pagoda. My first version of pagoda generator was called Pagoda Maker™, and it was written in MEL language of Maya at SCAD in 2013. Unfortunitaly, the Pagoda Maker™ just sold 1 copy in the world, well, so sad to see my next job even is to increase the saling, maybe saling two copies in the next ten years.
Why Chose Pagoda?
Pagoda is the Chinese traditional building, which has been existing for over thousand years. This ancient architecture has many types in the history. The pagodas coming from different counties may share the same spirit but has their own shapes. Not only in China, but it is widespread into other Asian counties like Japan, Korea or Thailand. Although many pagodas in many Asian countries may have untold similarities, their structures have been transformed from typical Chinese style into unique heritages of their own. Considering about their diversities, it is much suitable for doing something like procedural modeling, which can fully expose the advantage of programming in production creativity and in working efficiency. Based on the above considerations , I chose it as my programming project.
Concept
"Doing pagoda in programming was like building blocks. Anyway, anything looks complex is all made by simple aspects. What I had found in 2013 for writing Pagoda Maker™ was that the pagoda was disassembled by a boolean unit, which was made by a box and a sphere. "

"After parsing the construction of pagoda, the next thing was to use programming to make them from the concept into real. When doing the code, the script was made up by two parts: the first part was doing interface, the last part was making for writing programming functions. Totally, there are three versions in my development."

Considering the miserable saling of Pagoda Maker™ in the past 7 years, I must do something. So making a new Pagoda Maker™ is becoming a must have. After had a meeting with Dreamworks China, I had nothing to do at home in 2014, felt a little bit boring. So I was becaming interested on realtime tool develepment in the late of October.
Why RealTime?
Before Dynacar™, industry made dynamics were very unrefficient, you want to see the result? well, you need to wait for a while, wait for how long was depended on your computer's power. When everytime tweaking a parameter, people had to wait for re-computing, then they could check what's going on for this tweak. Turns out making dynamics in 3D was so slowly, unrefficiently, and so boring, like using mentalray. But when Dynacar came out, everything had changed, Lu was no doult again to be a game changer to blow people's mind, shining the dark universe, that happened in A.D. 2015.
Complexity Made so Easily

Dynacar has so powerful thing that any solution will be at that time. Run in raeltime, no tedious car rigging setts, no complex control, 100% physical accurate, linked with cameras, Fun to use, etc...... I can't believe I could make this happen just in half a year after graduating from SCAD.

Better Realtime Tool
for beating Houdini Girl
The reason of making this tool was just due to spending-time, because my former job was too boring, just to make me feel happy. Then continue to beat my Houdini girl with no mercy. Ah~Ha...hahaha
Why LUilding™?
In our past years, making things changeable in realtime was like a magic. At SCAD, Professor Deborah R Fowler shown this happen at the first time to me. She firstly taught us using programming to do it in Maya, then She shown the power of how to use Houdini to make realtime animatic "toy". But personally, I hated Houdini, the main reason was it destoried my 2 months' holiday: I planed to use 2 months to handle this software with million-times confidence, it's like:"give me two 2 weeks I can handle it, it's just a pice of cake". But, two month later, I found out that I was still at the original point, still staying at level zero, which made me feel so frustrated. I was furious, then throwed it to trushcan and never wanted to see it anymore. This, later on , became the fuse of the ultimate battle between Cinema 4D master and Houdini girl. Until today, their battles never show any sign of ending.

LUilding™
LUilding can make various types buildings in very easy steps. You can draw your shapes and drag them into it, that's it! All the last thing is to tweak the sliders, it makes boring modeling process with so much fun. With the newly developed realtime lighting system, you can make your own animation at your finger tips. Because that's true realtime based, so what you get is what you see, no more waiting.
It's so exciting to see we now have realtime workflow based on Cinema 4D without taking any extra money using LUilding. But it's hard to say "forget unreal engine", it is real great. However, just like not everyone likes coffee, not everybody like unreal, unless it is embeded in C4D.
What I can do today is because I am standing on the shoulder of a giant. Without all professors (especially VFX professors)at SCAD, I can't achive it. I also wish to thank all talented CG artists who make hardworking for this world. I'm inspired from all your genious works to make some little thing happen. So, ...... Buy my Plugins!
